Congratulations to Dr. Gibbs for getting a grant that covered a student field trip to Barnes and Noble where students were able to help choose books for their classroom! Improving literacy is going to be a bit easier now that students can host classroom level "book clubs" reading and analyzing text from novels they helped choose.
The 2022 One Act competition, and theatre in general, is a collaborative process between the directors, designers, and performers. Attention Seniors!
LCHS Healthcare Science students enjoyed a field trip to the UNG simulator lab today! Students learned how technology is used to create authentic hospital scenarios for learning.
Coach Howell’s Forensics class completed a Latent fingerprint lab last week. Students learned humans leave behind fingerprints almost every time they touch something even if they can’t see them. Latent prints are made by residue present on finger ridges. Students practiced dusting for prints by coating them with powder and “lifting“ them from the object to compare to other prints.

LCHS will be hosting the PROBE College Fair Tour on Monday, October 17 during 4th block (1:00 pm - 2:30 pm). There will be 50+ colleges from around the Southeast for students to learn more about their opportunities after high school. Students MUST register to attend the college fair- students can register at bit.ly/LCHSProbe2022 and save their registration email.
Ms. Walters and Mrs. Nicholas had their students conduct Argument Driven Inquiry in their physical science class. Students were asked to test, "How can you determine the strength of an acid or a base using a cabbage indicator?" When they were done, they created their white board presentations and completed a gallery walk.
Congratulations to this week's Player of the Week, Walker Scott! Walker plays Tight End and led a powerful rushing attack that helped keep Gilmer County at bay during last Friday night's game. In addition, he had 1 catch for 5 yards! Congratulations Walker Scott!
Mrs. Barron's British Literature classes enjoyed reading and creating character analyses from the Cantebury Tales last week.

This week is Georgia Pre-K week! Our partners at Dahlonega Country Day and White Oak Academy invited LCHS, Teaching As A Profession students to share the gift of reading with their Pre-K classes.
Congratulations to this week's Player of the Week, Trenton Brookshire. Trenton was the highest graded offensive lineman and had 3 tackles on the defensive line! Way to go Trenton!

Congratulations to Cal Faulkner for being named last week's Player of the Week! Cal played Wide Receiver and Cornerback. He had 10 catches for 209 yards and 3 touchdowns. Way to go Cal!
Congratulations to Jeff Bearinger, who was named a winner of the Harbor Freight Tools for Schools Prize for Teaching Excellence this morning! Bearinger, a carpentry teacher at Lumpkin County High School in Dahlonega, GA, won a total of $50,000, including $15,000 for himself and $35,000 for his program. A total of $1.25 million is being awarded to 20 high school skilled trades teachers in 15 states. #CTAEDelivers #TR1BE

Back in May, we shared a new partnership between Lumpkin County High School, Lanier Technical College, Satellite Industries, WorkSource Georgia Mountains, and Workforce Strategies Group. This partnership involving these 5 organizations was the first of its kind, and the success of the program would determine if we could provide this opportunity to more students. We are happy to announce that our six Class of 2022 students successfully completed the program and graduated on September 23rd with their 𝗚𝗮𝘀 𝗠𝗲𝘁𝗮𝗹 𝗔𝗿𝗰 𝗪𝗲𝗹𝗱𝗶𝗻𝗴 Boot Camp certificate! They are gainfully employed as welders with Satellite Industries right here in Lumpkin County. Congratulations, gentlemen! You not only set yourselves up for success, but you also paved the way for the future students of LC!
